Celebrating 35 Years of Innovative Solutions
Nearly 35 years ago, CHW began as a small land surveying and engineering firm, driven by a vision to provide exceptional service and innovative solutions for Florida’s communities. Today, our multi-disciplinary A/E/C firm has flourished, boasting four strategically located offices in Gainesville, Jacksonville, Ocala, and Fort Myers, allowing us to serve clients all across the state.
In 2016, we formally integrated Landscape Architecture into our diverse range of services, joining the ranks of an estimated 24,000 professionals in the U.S. Our dynamic team of 10 is supported by six Licensed Professional Landscape Architects, three Project Managers, three Landscape Designers, and a CADD designer with nearly 50 years of combined experience to deliver an extensive range of landscape architectural and design services.
Our team is actively involved in fostering education and professional growth in the landscape architecture profession, consistently showcasing our commitment to our core value of Responsibility. We recently joined the American Society of Landscape Architects – Florida Chapter in Tallahassee for #StateAdvocacyDay to meet with our state legislators to advocate for policies and funding that support the profession and its positive impact on the built environment. Thank you to our kind hosts at our State’s Capitol!
As active members of the ASLA National and Florida Chapter, CHW is invested in the organization’s commitment to learning and improvement in service to its members, the profession, and the public good. We are not mere passive members, but active advocates for the profession, consistently participating in ASLA governance and engaging in a diverse range of activities to support the growth and development of the industry. By engaging in a diverse variety of activities from mentoring students at our alma maters to working together with municipalities to review and develop protective landscape ordinances, we demonstrate our devotion to the ASLA and the landscape architecture profession. 🤝

Forest Park Revitalization Project
The transformative power of landscape architecture in creating sustainable, visually stunning, and functional spaces. CHW is honored to support the profession and play an integral role in shaping the industry.
This #WLAM2023, we’re excited to showcase our ongoing work at Forest Park in Gainesville, Florida. CHW has been collaborating closely with the City of Gainesville, the Wild Spaces & Public Places Program, and the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Department to revitalize and enhance the park for the benefit of the community.
Acquired through annexation in November 2017, this popular recreational space offering soccer fields, volleyball and basketball courts, and other amenities, has been plagued by flooding during larger storm events. Improving these busy fields is the top priority of the project and to tackle these challenges, CHW is excited to provide a diverse range of services through a continuing services contract, including landscape architecture, public facilitation, civil design, permitting, construction documents and administration, and surveying and mapping.
Our comprehensive services aim to create a more resilient and enjoyable space for the park’s diverse user group by focusing on community engagement, redesigning and reconstructing the existing multi-purpose fields, adding infrastructure for a community dog park, food trucks, and stakeholder engagement and meetings, while adding new amenities like water fountains, shade structures, field lighting, seating, and a new smaller soccer field.
With ongoing collaborative efforts and a steadfast dedication to overcoming the park’s challenges, the renovations at Forest Park are anticipated to be completed by Fall 2023. The revitalized park will offer an enhanced, sustainable, and accessible recreational area tailored to the diverse needs of the community expanding Gainesville’s enriching both urban green spaces.
We are proud of our collaborative work at Forest Park which reflects our commitment to shaping and enhancing urban green spaces for the betterment of our communities. By addressing pressing challenges and integrating new amenities, we’re creating a more sustainable and vibrant environment for all park users. The successful revitalization of Forest Park exemplifies the power of landscape architecture to foster resilience, engagement, and sustainability in our built surroundings, leaving a lasting impact for generations to come.
