UF Weil McCarty Chilled Interconnect (Sharpie 1)
The University of Florida has undertaken the design and construction of upgrades to the chilled water infrastructure on the UF campus to serve the Wertheim Laboratory project as well as future campus needs. The upgrades for this phase of the improvements include two new 24” chilled water lines (supply and return) running along Gale Lemerand Drive, from Stadium Road to the intersection with the driveway at the Materials Engineering Building (bldg. 719). Due to the size and location of the upgrades to the chilled water infrastructure, modifications to other existing utilities must be made to resolve conflicts between the new chilled water lines and existing utilities and site features. This project also includes maintenance of traffic (MOT) plans for the extensive road and lane closures that will be necessary to install the new chilled water lines on Gale Lemerand Drive. The new chilled water lines will connect to a new manhole at Stadium Drive on the north end and will connect with the adjacent chilled water project to continue the infrastructure to the Wertheim project. This project required extensive coordination between various designers as well as multiple UF personnel in order to fully coordinate the resolution of utility and campus impacts during construction.
UF Wertheim Chilled Water Utility Upgrades (Sharpie 2)
The University of Florida has undertaken the design and construction of upgrades to the chilled water infrastructure on the UF campus to serve the Wertheim Laboratory project as well as future campus needs. The upgrades for this phase of the improvements include two new 24” chilled water lines (supply and return) running east from Gale Lemerand along the north side of the Materials Engineering Building (bldg. 719) to the termination point near the west side of the Reitz Union area. Due to the size and location of the upgrades to the chilled water infrastructure, modifications to other existing utilities must be made to resolve conflicts between the new chilled water lines and existing utilities and site features. The improvements also include new electric infrastructure, replacement of two sanitary sewer segments, and relocation of existing water mains in the construction area. This project required extensive coordination between various designers as well as multiple UF personnel in order to fully coordinate the resolution of utility and campus impacts during construction.
