UF Planning, Design & Construction identified several locations as part of an initiative to propose improvements and create outdoor civic squares on campus. CHW was asked to develop a Final Conceptual Plan and Perspectives for the intersection of Gale Lemerand Drive and Stadium Road at the heart of the University of Florida campus. As part of this effort, CHW performed a field inventory and analysis of the project site and facilitated a design charrette to establish programmatic elements and define opportunities and constraints for the project site. During this workshop, CHW gathered input from a wide variety of user groups from UF and the City of Gainesville, including the University Athletic Association, UF PD+C, the College of Engineering, UF Student Affairs, Gator Dining, and more. CHW then developed conceptual plans and presented to stakeholders again during an interactive workshop, then collected feedback. Through this collaborative process, CHW developed a final document with a conceptual plan, perspectives, and recommendations for the civic space.
CHW provided land planning, urban design, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, civil engineering, and client advocacy services.
