In 2022, the bridge at County Road (CR) 310 crossing over Deep Creek received significant repair and rehabilitation services. The construction, which included ±1800 linear feet of pre-stressed concrete piling and an approx. 30-mile-long detour, necessitated extensive public outreach to the local community.
For this project, CHW, an NV5 company provided construction administration, construction engineering inspection, and communications materials. Our team identified several cost-saving initiatives prior to construction, and as a result, were able to add milling and resurfacing as well as a new guard-rail to the approaching and departing portions of CR 310. Unforeseen subsurface conditions resulted in pile depths that were longer than anticipated, causing an initial change order of approximately $500,000. Our team successfully negotiated this down to less than $200,000, and worked directly with FDOT staff to secure additional funding for the County.
