On May 22, 2017, the City of Alachua adopted a Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). CHW assisted the City with this transportation analysis of the current and future roadway conditions. The LRTP identifies key roadway and sidewalk projects to ensure these facilities within the City efficiently serve the City’s residents and other users over the next 20 years.
The plan will be a valuable tool for the City in obtaining funding for the identified projects. Many of the identified improvements occur on roadways maintained by Alachua County or the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and must be included in their respective work programs. The traffic study methodologies used for the LRTP are consistent with methodologies utilized by the FDOT. In fact, FDOT assisted with the modeling for future roadway conditions. Therefore, this analysis provides a solid technical basis for justifying the importance of the identified improvements.
The LRTP was created in collaboration with the City of Alachua and CHW’s Transportation and Planning + Design teams. To learn more about our projects, visit our portfolio.
