CHW Professional Consultants honored as Grand Award recipient in the 2021 ACEC-FL’s Engineering Excellence Awards.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida (ACEC-FL)’s Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) acknowledges Florida engineering firms for their innovative applications and elaborate projects. CHW was selected by the ACEC-FL as a recipient of the Engineering Excellence Grand Award in the category of “Transportation” as the design and engineering prime entity for the City of Gainesville CRA’s Destination South Main Street project in Gainesville, Florida.

The judges rated projects and studies based on uniqueness and innovative applications; future value to the engineering profession; perception by the public; social, economic, and sustainable development considerations; complexity; and successful fulfillment of client/owners’ needs, including schedule and budget.

Destination South Main Street involved years of planning, paralleling engagement exercises, and collaboration with residents, owners, and businesses. CHW delivered this beautifully designed project within the owner’s budget, concept to completion, in September 2019. Destination South Main Street reused many elements of the corridor and existing underground infrastructure, saving the client construction time, reduced costs, and diminished the impact on businesses and the environment.
