Breaking Ground on the UF/IFAS Extension Building & Auditorium, partnered with Alachua County Agriculture and Equestrian Event Center and City of Newberry.
A big Congratulations goes out UF/IFAS, Alachua County, and the City of Newberry on breaking ground for the new Alachua County Agricultural and Equestrian Center and UF/IFAS Extension Office. Formerly known as the Canterbury Equestrian Showplace, located in Newberry, FL, community members came together to save this valuable economic resource – continuing to cultivate equestrian and agriculture education and events for our youth and community.
The Agricultural and Equestrian Event Center project consists of renovations to the Agricultural Arena and new construction of an IFAS Extension Office and Auditorium Building. The Agricultural and Equestrian Center portion of the site includes renovations to multiple existing facilities, including a large open arena, five shed rows with stalls, a clubhouse/office building, RV facilities, an existing restroom building, fenced pastures, and other miscellaneous structures, and site components. The UF/IFAS Extension Office is the new construction of a 13,773 SF Auditorium and 7,397 SF Extension office that will house IFAS Faculty Agents, County Staff, and 4-H Program, as well as Master Gardener volunteers.
CHW provided site master planning, surveying and mapping, landscape architecture, and design of new stormwater infrastructure and modifications to existing stormwater infrastructure. New parking facilities and pedestrian circulation was added throughout the site to help facilitate travel to and from parking areas and the various uses and facilities on the site.
