The Dr. Mohammad Faisal Family Media Center (+/- 3,347 sf) at Oak Hall project is a state of the art media center, which relieves crowded existing lower school classroom space. The project also utilizes an underground exfiltration stormwater management facility to treat the required water quality and attenuates the regulatory storm events. The system consist of 42 inch perforated HDPE storm pipe surrounded with stone and wrapped in filter fabric that collects runoff from the building roof and adjacent area.
The use of this, low impact design, stormwater system eliminates the need for a standard dry retention stormwater pond, which would take up valuable space and create safety concerns for the school. In addition by being hidden away underground it doesn’t necessitate being planted and maintained with grass, shrubs or similar that requires maintenance and resources to properly maintain. Instead the system has courtyards, sidewalks and other usable spaces placed over it that add value and aesthetics to the project. CHW provided civil engineering, surveying landscape architecture, construction administration, and construction engineering inspection services for this project.
