Alachua County, Florida, September 26, 2013– The SantaFe Village Development Regional Impact (DRI) Development Order was originally approved in 1986, then known as the Alachua General Satellite Campus. Since that time, Alachua County has designated an urban service area (USA) as defined by Florida Statutes in its adopted Comprehensive Plan. The Florida Statutes provides that any proposed development within a designated USA is exempt for the DRI process.
The developer and land owners including SantaFe HealthCare, Inc., North Central Florida Hospice, Inc. AvMed, Inc., and Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinic, Inc. requested DRI rescission and the County have approved the request. Causseaux, Hewett, & Walpole, Inc. (CHW), provided professional services throughout rescission request process.
Now, the project may move forward under the existing Alachua County Comprehensive Plan and Unified Land Development Code (ULDC). This should accelerate the development process and its ability to build both infrastructure and fulfill its public transportation commitment in NW Alachua County and the Gainesville area.
